Called to a Meeting

If you are called into a meeting with an administrator which you think may result in accusatory proceedings, be certain to have a Building Rep present.

Meeting Goes to Haywire

If you find yourself in a meeting which you did not expect to be accusatory, but which results in accusations against you , ask for an adjournment of the meeting, make NO COMMENTS on the issue at hand, and immediately consult with your Building Rep to discuss the steps you should take.

Oops!  Forgot My Rep

If you are in a meeting, without a Building Rep, and you are unable to stop the meeting for any reason, discontinue participation in the meeting, take notes, do not respond or react and at the end of the meeting SEE YOUR BUILDING REP.

Want to Leave A Meeting

If you are so uncomfortable with an administrator that it would be impossible to have any kind of meeting without a Building Rep be sure to inform your Rep of this so that they may insure their presence at any meeting you may be called into.

Best Thing To Do

To insure the best possible assistance of a Building Rep always follow this advice:

•contact your Building Rep immediately

•do not discuss any issue with an administrator or attempt     to resolve a situation on your own

•do not make spontaneous replies to charges

•cooperate with your Building Rep regarding written statements involved in accusatory actions

•do not accept any proposals offered by administration without a full discussion with your Association

•under no circumstances accept an offer to resign (or in any other way compromise yourself) without first conferring with your Association

•make absolutely no public statements about the matter

IMPORTANT

Your potential and ultimate defense could be weakened or destroyed if you fail to follow any of the above steps!

In the event you are ordered or otherwise "forced" into a situation you find difficult to accept or execute the important thing to remember is WORK FIRST THEN GRIEVE!!!!

2. See the nurse. The incident must  be documented by the nurse. The document may later be needed for any type of testimony.

4. In case of assault file serious incident report with help of Building Rep.

Guide for All Teachers

  • Keep a personal log; write down all requests you make for classroom and educational materials, discipline referrals, and/or any item or issue, that at a later date, may be used against you.  Create a PAPER TRAIL of proof that you have asked for supplies and/or help concerning certain issues and did not received it.
  • Prepare lessons each day as though you will be observed.  You might be!
  • Use your time wisely.  Do not allow yourself to fall behind in assigned tasks.  If more time is necessary for an assigned task, request your lead teacher or principal for more time.  Put your request in writing.  If you think you are being overloaded, contact your building representative or fill out CUEA's web form.
  • If you are reprimanded or receive an unsatisfactory evaluation contact your building representative.  CUEA will provide the necessary support.
  • If you are asked to attend an accusatory meeting, contact your building representative.  You have the right to take a union representative with you to the meeting.
